Daily Devotion

I've always believed in helping those that are less fortunate than myself. However, I think a true test of faith is when we help others even when we too are in need of assistance. We are in some hard financial times, so it's difficult to give when we're struggling to take care of our own. Yet, giving doesn't always have to come in the form of a check, for we can always give time, love, and compassion to those in need. And, I've found that when we give, nothing is ever lost, for God always fills in the gaps.

"If there is a poor man among your brothers in any of the towns of the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward your poor brother. Rather be openhanded and freely lend him whatever he needs." Deuteronomy 15:7-8 (NIV)
