Products on My Radar

Okay, so I explained to you guys in a previous post that I wasn't feeling Miss Jessie's or the Kinky-Curly brand of hair care products just off of their price range alone. I've never tried either brand, but I know that to do so would almost be a waste, because there is no way that I would continue to stock up on products that are, in my opinion, just too darn expensive!

Alas, many of my divas and YouTube subscribers have talked to me about the Curls line of hair care products. I was told that they are great for naturally curly hair, and that in comparison to other, much talked about brands, the price is oh so right!

I was perusing the Curls website (www.curls.biz) and found a lot of products that I would be interested in trying. I ran across the site for the first time a few months ago, and decided to hit it up again yesterday. Apparently, they have revamped their site and product packaging, and I am loving the new look! The company, which was founded by a multi-ethnic woman by the name of Mahisha Dellinger, carries products designed with the curly haired woman in mind. The following is the company's objective as stated on their website:

"CURLS is a premium, ethnic hair care company whose purpose is to deliver quality products that cater to the unique needs of today's multi-ethnic market. It is the first line of hair care products truly created specifically for biracial/multiracial women and girls with naturally curly hair."

Below are two Curls products that caught my eye. As soon as I get some discretionary income, I'll be testing them out.

#1. Quenched Curls Moisturizer
You ladies know how crucial it is to keep our hair moisturized, and if you're a kinky/curly lady such as myself, moisture plays a huge role in the health of our hair. I'm always looking for products that provide moisture without bogging the hair down. And, I have to moisturize my hair daily, so the fact that this product claims to be the perfect solution for daily hydration places it at the top of my must-try list.

The following is a complete description of the Quenched Curls Moisturizer as stated on the Curls website:

"Are your curls dry, dull and lifeless? Give them just what they need! daily moisture! This EXCEPTIONAL moisturizer will hydrate, condition and revive your curls, restoring their natural beauty. Consider this your 'under wear for your hair.' Excellent companion to any of our Step 4 styling products. Acts as a curl refresher prepping them for styling."

#2. Curl Soufflé
Much like the Kinky-Curly Curling Custard or Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding, the Curls line of hair care products carries a variety of styling creams designed for each woman's specific needs. Out of all of the ones they have to offer, the Curl Soufflé sounds like it's right up my alley. Here is a description as posted on their website:

"This soufflé textured cream defrizzes, defines and holds curls while locking in moisture. Curl Soufflé will define your curls with added moisture and sheen with a soft natural hold. Also works great as gel substitute to smooth edges and/or slick hair into a protective style. Provides curl protection against the elements while keeping your curls in shape! Ideal styler for brutal winter months and scorching summer days. For best results, apply evenly, section by section."

Ingredients: purified water, certified organic sunflower oil, octyl palmitate, certified organic aloe vera leaf juice, glyercin, glyceryl stearate, potassium stearate, panthenol, stearic acid, sodium carbomer, allantoin, cetearyl alcohol, sweet almond oil, shea butter, jojoba oil, soy tocopherols, phenoxyethanol, fragrance.

Key Ingredients Breakdown:

Now, some of you ladies have asked me about products that work well in humid climates. Since I live in the sunny state of California, humidity isn't really an issue for me. However, when I visited New York a few summers back, I got to see how unruly my curls can get when the weather isn't right. So, I think some of you East coast ladies might be able to benefit from the following product by Curls:

#3. Curl Gel-les'c (pronounced Curl Jealousy)"It isn't a gel, and not quite a serum it's Curl Gel-les'c (pronounced Curl Jealousy). This botanically based, organic curl styler imparts brilliant sheen, banishes frizz, and holds those twirls in place! Great for humid climates. Transform dry frizzy locks into the enviable curls that every woman dreams of, with Curl Gel-les'c. Go ahead, your curls deserve it!"

Application: Day #1 - Apply Curl Gel-les'c to freshly cleansed/conditioned hair, while it is still wet. Gently work through curls from root to end. Allow to air dry. Day #2 - Refresh with Quenched Curls Moisturizer, apply Curl Gel-les'c only as needed.

Ingredients: Purified Water, Polyquaternium-11, Sorbitol, Certified Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Polyquaternium-37, Vegetable Glycerin, Certified Organic Coconut Milk ( Cocos Nucifera Fruit Juice), Certified Organic Linden Seed Oil ( Tilia Cordata Flower Extract), Certified Organic Flaxseed Oil ( Linum Usitatissimum Seed Oil, Certified Organic Chamoile Extract (Anthemis Nobilis Flower Extract) Certified Organic Rosemary Extract (Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Extract), Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol.

Curls is on my radar as well!!! I'd really like to try the milkshake and the Gel les c. I'm really not into outrageous shipping prices, but I found recently that Curltopia natural hair salon in Atlanta carries it, so I will be trying it out when I go in for a consultation!
