Can You Afford Natural Hair?
The following video was made by a YouTube poster by the name of Familygoingnatural. This lovely lady makes videos of herself and her family, as they embark on the exciting journey of going natural. I love her spirit and think the following video she made regarding natural hair products is HILARIOUS! I must say that I agree with a lot of what she has to say. You know your girl is a frugal diva . Check it out:
By the way, she says the video won't stay up for long, but I hope she doesn't yank it down anytime soon, because I favorited it (keeping fingers crossed)!

LOL! She is too funny. I have to check her out on you tube. Have you tried any natural products that didn't work?
Oooh that was funny!! LOL But it is totally true! Some of these products cost entirely too much and do not do what they claim to do! It is hard to find things that work for you while trying to put the "right" ingredients in your hair to result in healthy hair. I just BC'd and I am trying to find what works for me but I can see the cost getting higher.
lol "and then... the salone, the salone talkin bout this heffa wanted a hundred dollas" lol hahaha wow Princess this was hilarious, thanks for the morning laugh i really needed it
Ok I am soooooooooooooo Feelin her!!!! When I embarked on this "natural hair journey" I thought oh I am going to be saving money and I am going to be able to do all the wonderful same styles I did with my previous relaxed hair and I am embracing my true self...OK NOT!!! ....My hair will not keep a style like it used to...I fear the rain more than ever and its hateful hair ruining power like it is cryptonite!...I too am losing a chunk of change on purchasing products trial and error!...And as much as I applaud women who have found that natural stride...but my hair does not pop with ooh laa laa curls and waves, like it did when I was relaxed and I truly do agree that most of these products work with people with multiracial hair or loose curl fine hair! I am on Youtube daily trying to find someone who's hair looks like mine to see if I am wasting my time and money...Cause honestly I never had problems with my hair relaxed...it was gorgeous thick long and healthy...But now!...Its like snap crackle pop!
Don't get me wrong I truly want to get to the point of loving my natural me, and not chemically altering myself to embrace societies version of beauty and all that...but uh rah!...It takes more time more money to work with this hair! And it just isn't CUTE
I really pray what I am going thru is the transitioning sista blues cause at this point I about to go and get someone to slap on some creamy crack back in my hair!...
Ok..I have finished ranting...(phew)...Thank You!
I'm glad you ladies found the humor in this. I haven't tried too many natural or "organic" products for that same reason. $9.00 for a small bottle of organic shampoo?? I think not.
Oh and Kkolicole, I've got something for you coming up real soon, so hang in there!
XOXO
i saw this video yesterday too
i totally agree with her
by the way: i'm soooo excited about your new videos espcially the curly hairstyles
Thanks for this video..that lady is a character! I love her! I still love you, too, Princess, LOL! I am excited about the new videos that you are coming up with. Keep up the good work!
I agree with KKolicole. I am transitioning and I am ready to give up. Not to mention the fact that friends and some family members are not encouraging this journey at all. That makes it even harder. I am braiding my hair this weekend so maybe that will postpone my feelings for a little while.
Fabulosity, you'd betta hang in there! Go get your hair braided up and forget what everyone else says. Trust, over time, you'll learn to LOVE your natural hair...and other's will too :-).
Sarah, I agree. I don't think going natural means you have to go natural in terms of the products you use. I get flack for using regular shampoo, but have you seen my hair turn green or fall out over it??? No :-).
I have naturally curly hair too. I wore it the whole summer of 2007 that way. Now, Im back to relaxed and straight. I'm trying not to use too much heat.
