Product Haul December 26, 2009

My family decided to only purchase Christmas gifts for the little ones this year, so I unfortunately didn't get any gifts. Well, at least not the wrapped kind. I did however get lots of love from family and friends, so I guess that is worth something :-). Seriously though, since none of the adults exchanged gifts, I decided to treat myself to some makeup goodies.

I feel like I've outgrown my L.A. Color palettes, and have been dying to try something new that is more pigmented. I was therefore happy to snag these pretty palettes by Maybelline at Ulta. They were having a two for two sale, so I chose these four:

With flash
Without flash
Clockwise from top left:
  • Rose Tints
  • Indian Summer
  • Seashore Frost
  • Enchanted Forest
I was so in love with these palettes that I had to try one right away. I therefore created the following look using every color from the Seashore Frost palette:

This look was really simple, as the palettes tell you where to apply each color (i.e. the lid, crease, outer corner, and highlight). I therefore found this to be a great investment, as it was very affordable, and came with very simple instructions, making it the perfect gift for a beginner like me!

Luckily, L'Oreal was also having the two for two deal, so I purchased these four duos by L'Oreal Hip:

With flash
Without flash
Clockwise from top left:
  • Flare
  • Brazen
  • Flamboyant
  • Adventurous
I also bought a new eyeliner by Maybelline Stiletto, as well as voluminous mascara by L'Oreal:

At Target I bought two new lippies:
(Left to right)
  • Plum Rum by NYC
  • Violet Shine by NYC
  • Free gloss sample from Ulta
And here are the colors on my lips:

Plum Rum

Violet Shine

I also bought this cute little organizer from Target that cost around $5.00:

Since my train case was about to explode, this addition helped tremendously in terms of helping me organize my makeup:

My makeup area on my vanity

That's it for now. I'll be sure to share whatever other fabulous looks I come up with using these palettes.

the plum rum is to die for srsly! idk if it will go with my particular skin tone, but when i get the courage to try wearing something other than lipgloss, I am going straight for that shade./ it was so selfless for you and your family to just focus on the kids this year. the economy is horrible as we all know, and now we all have to get a lil less selfish and keep our priorities in order. being together is what counts. =)... new year blessings to all of you and your families!

I love those lip sticks! Are you wearing a liner with them? If so, what brand are the liners and how did you match the colors so perfectly?

Some of the Maybellines show up on me, and some do not. I had really good luck with the gold palette, but not with the greens. Do you use anything special or underneath?
