Transitioning Tale: Ebony's Story
A beautiful diva named Ebony has transitioned from relaxed to natural for the third, yes THIRD time. As the saying goes, third times the charm! Below is her transitioning tale as told to PYCAG.
Left side: 1 month au naturale; Right side: 8 months au naturale
PYCAG: How long were you relaxed?
Ebony: Since I was six, so 17 years. I am 1 year and 3 months into my transition. My last relaxer was June 27, 2009 (Pic of relaxed hair below).
Ebony: This is my third time trying to transition. I BC'd in 2005 and transitioned in 2006 during pregnancy. I had no idea what I was doing back then. Thanks to the lovely YouTube community of natural women, I have some type of guidance now.
PYCAG: Why did you opt to slowly transition versus do the BC?
Ebony: When I BC'd before all I could do was wash n' goes and TWAs, and I like to have a little more versatility.
PYCAG: How are you caring for your hair?
Ebony: During my transition, I wore braid outs, drawstring ponytails, and braids. After the TBYHC, I tried some kinky twists. I've been washing my hair with the Pantene Relaxed & Natural shampoo every 2 weeks and co-washing with the Relaxed & Natural conditioner twice within that 2 weeks. I deep condition with ORS Replenishing Pack once a month.
Ebony: I use Pantene Relaxed & Natural Shampoo and Conditioner, Parnevu Leave-In Conditioner, ORS Replenishing Pack, ORS Wrap/Set Mousse, ORS Sheen Spray, ORS Olive Oil Moisturizing Hair Lotion, and Bronner Bros. Double Strength Super Gro with Vitamin E.
PYCAG: What are your hair care goals?
Ebony: My goal is to have healthy hair. After all the realxing, weaving, dying, and cutting, I need a break and so does my hair. I also plan on keeping my daughter natural and want her to see that natural hair is beautiful hair too!
Thank you, Ebony, for sharing your story. We wish you the best of luck on your natural hair care journey!

Thanx so much for featuring me! I should've sent you updated products (I haven't used these since my transition started) I currently use Alikay Naturals shampoo, conditioner, growth oil, and the shea yogurt moisturizer. I also use Carol's Daughter Healthy Hair Butter and IC Fantasia Olive Oil Gel for my Wash n Go.
Girl, that's my fault. I'm so sorry it took me this long to post. I figured you would have changed up your reggie by now. So glad to see things are going well for you and your hair! XOXO
