Hair

My Moisture Experiment

So, I was recently bored and decided to do a little moisture experiment. I basically wanted to see how my hair would look and feel if I, for once, didn't apply any product to my hair until after it dried. Now, we all talk about how important it is to put product in the hair while it's wet. After all, it's water that truly provides moisture. However, we only know this because of what we've been told by others. Well, at least that's the case for me, for I've never actually done any experimentation of my own to know otherwise.

After washing and conditioning my hair with a sulfate-free cleanser, I allowed my hair to air dry, and combed it out to get this big, bushy fro:

I then added a moisturizing lotion to my hair, put it in four braids...

and got this:
A sticky mess! Although the braidout looked okay, my hair felt awful! I could tell that the product was just sitting on my hair. After all, there was no real moisture to lock in, as my hair had already dried. I have to say I was kind of digging the "Cousin It" look, LOL! Do you do stuff like this when you're bored?

Thank you for doing this! This whole moisturize while wet thing is still new to me & it's good to see the feedback from someone who is doing it correctly and your take on the difference it made for the feel of your hair. This is definitely going into my mental reserve! And actually, the look it has is that if I touch it, I would have product on my hands..which is what I'm used to from my days of perm...just a few months ago.
Thanks!

thats what you got to do. thats how i discovered what works and what really doesnt work for my hair. its all about the discovery of you...and your hair is an extention thereof. and have you noticed yet that your hair has a personality, some stuff it loves...some stuff it definately does not like. hahaha keep up the good work.

I'm just not that adventurous yet. Although, I have wondered in the past what my hair would do if I left it to dry on its own. I may have to try that, though I can't imagine it would be too far from what your hair looked like lol. Thanks for sharing!
