Daily Devotion

When I worked in Corporate America, I made it a point to get the cleaning staff a gift for the Holidays. The surprised and grateful expressions displayed on their faces when I distributed the gifts were priceless. I could tell that they weren't used to being treated well, let alone acknowledged by other staff members. Yet, I never looked down on them just because they had what many considered an undesirable position. That's because I knew someone else in a higher position could just as easily look down on me.

"Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited." Romans 12:16 (NIV)

I always make sure to speak to the cleaning staff and ask them about their day. I use to be in that position to work my way through college and it was a humbling experience for me. So I have a new perspective and I try to always treat everyone with the same courtesy despite their position.

I totally agree with this scripture (lol...like I have a choice not to). We're going to be judged by the way we treat others. We're reminded to literally "do unto others as you would have them do unto you"!
