Let's Talk Hair! (Vol. II: Girl With Curls)

In this edition of Let's Talk Hair!, I have decided to showcase my big sis, "Girl With Curls." She is a natural-haired diva who was very reluctant to transition from relaxed to natural, but is slowly learning to embrace her natural hair. I figured she'd be a great inspiration to those of you who are also struggling to embrace your natural hair and or are on the fence about transitioning. In this video she explains, in her own words, her reservations about going natural, how she transitioned, and how she currently cares for her hair. Check her out:

Below is a slideshow of "Girl With Curls" sporting some of her various looks. She has very dense, tight curls, and although she has experimented with other styles in the past (such as twist outs, braids, weaves, and her natural texture in an afro), she currently prefers to alternate between a straw set and pressing her hair straight with a flat iron.

Hopefully I can get her to record another video showing what her natural texture looks like freshly washed and conditioned prior to straightening it with a flat iron. Thus, look out for more of "Girl With Curls" in the future!

Love your big SIS! Thanks for the video it was very helpful even for me...someone who is contemplating transitioning. Hearing your sister talk about her active life style and how her natural hair works for her was very encouraging. I’m sure this video will help out other sistas as well.

Great video! I like Girl With Curls' natural hair when it's straight. I looks so much better than the weave in my opinion. The straw set is cute too. Thanks for posting :-)

This was a really great idea!....Now your sisters hair is more like mine! I have never done weaves or sew ins before but it is tempting...I did figure out one style to do but I can't get my curls to hold....I do a two strand flat twist randomly around my hair and then set it by using rollers to my scalp...It looks soooo cute!!! BUT 10 minutes later it falls and looks a frizzy mess....do you suggest any products for staying curl power that doesn't make them really hard and crunchy?...Cause I am officially tapped out of funds for pricy hair products!

I bought:Kinky Curly Knot Today; Kinky Curly Custard; Kendra Moisturizing Conditioner; Enjoy Hair Spritz
Grand Total: $70.00!...I thought going natural was economical!!??

Loved this video, I feel like someone knows exactly how I feel. :-) I do plan letting my hair and scalp rest after I take my sew in out. Then in a couple of months get some braids. Thanks for the video, helps me stay focused.

This was a great share. I am newly transitioning and i am afraid of what my texture is going to look like. So i am seriously on the fence partly the reason why im not doing the big chop but this is mini motivation. lol.
