Is She Serious?

One of my YouTube subscribers sent me a link to the video below, and I was appalled by what I saw. At first, I thought it was a joke, but the profanity was so excessive that I couldn't find the humor in it. Apparently, no one else did. Not only did the video receive a lot of flack from the YouTube community, but a writer for Black Voices posted an article, chastising the woman in the video for showing the world How Not to Care for Your Child's Hair.

I must warn you that the video contains a lot of profanity, and many have deemed the woman's actions as child abuse. See the footage here:

This is case in point as to why we must speak positively to our children about their hair. Self esteem starts early, and no child should be made to feel as though they have "bad" or unmanageable hair. With the right products, tools and techniques, any texture can be dealt with in a loving way.

To say this video is absolutely ridiculous is an understatement. I heard about this video and couldn't find it. First of all, no one combs hair the way she was combing. I felt so sorry for the little girl!

It breaks my heart to see that little girl(and eventually that little boy) subject to that abuse. There is numerous ways to go about doing a child's hair without having to hold them down and harshly brush/comb their hair. Obviously if your child is screaming it must be hurting them. Also to say that she has bad hair is crazy! I know plenty of women with myself included that would love to have a head of thick hair like hers.

You ladies are so right. The child's hair doesn't even look that unmanageable, which is why I was like, "Is she serious?"

Wow...just wow. How is she going to get any tangles out of the hair with by brushing it and not using detangler. It looked like she was spraying something in it at some point but the hair is dry so I don't know how she thinks this is going to help. This lil girl will definitely grow up thinking that she needs a perm and she looks like she has a decent grade of hair. Even more, she looks bi-racial. Her mother doesn't know one thing about doing hair, it doesn't look like she is being that rough but by the way she is talking to her daughter and yanking her around, how she is supposed to calm down enough for the mom to comb her hair the right way, if she is talking to her child like that. That's a mess, wish I could find her and kick her a**.

isn't that nuts...no one combs hair like that..Aside from the fact that she was pulling her hair out,who speaks to a their child like that??? And the little girl was saying I hate you...Ugh I am disgusted. Poor child, did you notice the mom really has no emotion to it..so you can tell it is routine. Apparently they thought this video was funny or something, because someone put it online...It is sad.

This is absolutely ridiculous! Those children have a head full of beautiful hair and that lady ( Idk if she is their mother or who) but she wasnt even brushing or combing it right! And all that cussing and putting down the texture of those children's hair...unacceptable. there are products that can make hair easier to deal with and there are methods and techniques to combing and brushing hair like that. I know what that child was going through because I had hair just like that when I was younger (which is why mom got me a Just for me perm but she didnt know about the other products out there to aid in managing my hair, otherwise she never would have gotten me the perm. I was screaming and crying and carryin on when mom combed and brushed my hair but mom did it with care- my hair was just too thick, to the point where my beauticians would laugh because my hair would break their combs lol) But even today (because I am transitioning) combing my hair hurts like heck but I hold it at the roots and then comb so that it is not pulling and hurting even worse. I just think this video is a horrible way to deal with those kids' hair....

Wow, I don't understand why she didn't do the hair in sections and use some type of conditioner & then a moisturizer on each section. Then use a wide tooth comb to work out tangle end to root. Just goes to show you some people are just selfish.

Omg, that is terrible, after 49 seconds, i couldn't watch it any more. First of all, the washe was combing the child's hair was way too rough and unnecessary, then she was cursing the child out!!! This is horrible.. Nothing more too say. =(

If this white father can take care of his adopted daughter's hair with love and care there is no excuse for this:
