Does This Ever Happen To You?

Divas,

When you're out and about and sportin' your naturally curly/kinky do's, does anyone ever come up to you and say, "I'd love to run a hot comb/flat iron through that!"? The reason I ask is because last week I went to the hospital for a checkup wearing my signature, curly ponytail. The nurse that was tending to me had a fierce, Rihanna-esque hairstyle, and I complimented her on the cut. She then eyeballed my head of curls and slid me her card. Apparently, she was a nurse by day and a beautician by night. She said she would "Love to run a flat iron through my hair and have it swangin'." That's not the first time this has happened to me. In fact, I've had quite a few beauticians who were trying to get in my head say this to me, and people who just simply weren't digging my natural curls.

It's funny to me that people always assume that as a curly haired chick, I'm missing out on being straight. Little do they know I can wield a flat iron like a pro! If I wanted straight locs, I'd be wearing them.

Does this ever happen to you?

XOXO,

DPrincess I'm kind of going through the same thing! Because I am transitioning my new growth looks " a little nappy" and my friends are always asking to flat iron my hair or put extra edge tamer on my edges. It's very annoying and unmotivting but its cool because we're gonna look hot at the end with our natural styles! :)

Because I'm currently transitioning my hair looks " a little nappy", my friends want to flat iron my hair or joke how I need to use extra products on my hair. It's really annoying and unmotivating but its cool because I'm going to have beautiful hair at the end..curly or straight :)

your curls are beautiful and the folx probably wantin' to run a flat iron through them are probably 'J' of your hair for one reason or another...

i'm litteraly SMH.

How rude is that! She doesn't know who she is dealing with. And "Natural Nini" don't say that word, and definitely don't let those fools mess with your mind. You hair is beautiful and right now, it's just in the transition phase and is a little temperamental. I don't know if you guys are old enough for kids, but think of your hair as being a two year old. When you are out in public you don't know when he/she decides to throw a temper tantrum. But you know that the child (your hair) will out grow this phase.

People are funny, I feel like your old enough to know what you want to do with your hair and if you wanted it to be "swinging" it would be! lol
