Dye That Man Right Outta Your Hair?

Hey divas,

In my Hair Journey video, I explained how I once put blond streaks in my hair after a bad breakup that left me devastated. I was relaxed at the time, so the dye was too harsh and ultimately took my hair out. That traumatic hair experience is what prompted my journey to go natural. Kim K. recently dyed her hair blond after breaking up with Reggie Bush, and although I can definitely relate to her and the feelings surrounding a breakup, I don't think this was a good move.

As women, we tend to internalize a lot of things, and unfortunately, how we look is often tied to what we think of ourselves. Breakups can really get you down and have you doubting yourself. Am I good enough? Will I ever find someone who really loves me? Questions like these can often creep up and cause us to feel like we need to do something drastic in order to feel good about ourselves again.

When I went through that bad breakup that left me discombobulated, I wanted nothing more than to separate myself from the person I was while I was in that relationship. Changing my hair seemed to be one of the easiest transformations to make. But, was it worth it? No! It definitely wasn't worth my hair falling out, that's for sure.

I wish Kim and anyone else who is heartbroken all the best. She is a beautiful woman with exotic features, and this blond hair seems to just wash everything out. Hopefully she'll get back to a better place soon…and return to her brunette ways again!

XOXO,

I gotta say I usually hate it when a brunette goes blond. But I really do think this color change on Kim is hot. Sometimes you have to shake it up a bit. Hopefully she will get over this break up and eventually go back to brunette but for now I'm feeling the new hair.

I agree with Avillacorta. I like the new color on Kim but i'm sure when fall/winter comes she'll go back to black... But I feel her and you on the breakup thing... I broke up with my boyfriend of 3 months last week and it's been really hard for me... I almost got a tattoo that says "Never Trust Again"... but I didn't thank God. I think it's just an instinct to want to change to make that person want you back. I wish her the best of luck as well. :)

Ooh girl, I'm so glad you did NOT get that tattoo! This too shall pass. Never give up hope! :-) XOXO

Wow!...lol...it really must one of our things as women to literally change stripes!...I just ended my engagement 3 weeks ago and I have wanted to show some outward sign that it is over!....I have been thinking strongly about cutting my hair next month on my birthday. Now when I say I am one of those females that never ever! Cuts her hair I mean never ever I have always had bsl to mid back length hair but I have never felt compelled so strongly until now to chop it! (plus I am transitioning)

I love Kim's naturally luscious deep brunette hair, but maybe I'll grow to love her blonde locks as well...she is still gorgeous all the same!

*Side note Saying Hola to you DPrincess I am in your town L.A. for a short spell and then headin back to the east coast, just wanted to say thank you again for always staying true and committed to this blog. Life has been crazy where I couldn't even check in to read your posts so I know it takes a lot of effort prepare and produce daily for this ...so thank you again!*

Hey Nik!

Thanks so much for your kind words. I truly appreciate your support! Sorry to hear about your broken engagement. Who knows, you may just get back together, because I always say, "It ain't over till it's over." Either way, I wish you and your fiance (because I'm sure he's hurting too) all the best :-).

XOXO

actually Kim announced that it was just a wig, she did not actually dye her hair. so she didnt do anything rash over her ex.

Um, no sweetie, she went blond for real this time. It was a wig the first time, but not now. Check out her blog: http://kimkardashian.celebuzz.com/2009/08/i-really-went-blonde-this-time.php

Hi! I just stumbled across your youtube channel right before (or right at the moment when) you decided to go on a little break and start slowing things down a bit, so I've just been entertaining myself with your blog. :)

I just thought I had to comment on this because I did the SAME thing when I was having some issues! lol..not blonde, but BRIGHT RED streaks...and right around the time when I was supposed to be going on some interviews for school. I really thought I was losing my mind. This was LAST October, and yet I still have the streaks in my hair, although they have faded to a light brownish color, and grown away from my roots. WHYYY do we women tend to wanna take things out on our hair when we are going through a phase? lol...I just thought it was really interesting...

stay blessed! <3
