The celebrity locks I'm currently admiring: Kelis. Her milkshake may bring all the boys to the yard, and it's been said that she can be a bit bossy, but one thing is certain: her style is off the chain! I can't believe that in all the years I've been blogging, I have yet to feature this sassy songstress! I think it's pretty safe to say that Kelis is all natural, given the texture of her hair. Those of us who are natural understand and appreciate the versatility natural hair affords, and this diva definitely knows how to switch things up. Her style, cuts and colors range from totally tame, to completely insane, but I'll let you be the judge about which is which.

New season, new hair. That seems to be the trend amongst women everywhere. Now that spring is upon us, I'm seeing a lot of highlights and lighter hair in general. I've noticed a lot of celebs rocking lighter shades, and it's making me want to switch up my 'do too. Here are some pics of celebs who've got me feenin' for box color...

The celebrity locks I'm currently admiring: Brooke Bailey. She is the latest addition to the cast of Basketball Wives L.A., and I must say homegirl has a bangin' bod and luscious locks to go along with it! I suspect, based on some of the added fullness peeped via clips from the show that she adds extensions from time to time. But, it appears that her hair is all hers for the most part. If not, then she has some of the tightest weaves in the game, because there are no lumps or bumps, making it virtually undetectable.

Traction Alopecia in the Media

Lately, former super model (and perpetual knockout) Naomi Campbell has gotten quite a bit of attention for her tresses...or lack thereof. The scrutiny is surrounding her non-existent edges. Apparently, Miss Campbell is a victim of traction alopecia, a condition in which a person loses their hair due to excessive tension and or stress to any particular area of the head. Too tight weaves, ponytails or even wigs can cause damage over time--damage that is unfortunately irreversible.

The celebrity locks I'm currently admiring: Crystle Stewart. You may remember her as Miss USA 2008, or perhaps you've seen her on Tyler Perry's new hit sitcom, For Better or Worse. Either way, girlfriend has some beautiful hair. She's admitted to wearing weaves and extensions, which is pretty much standard for the industry she's in, as weaves, when done right, can be one of the best protective styles for those who must endure heavy styling on a daily basis. Not sure which pics feature her real hair or weave, but either way, it all looks good to me!

I'm sure most of you have already heard about Olympic Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas being the center of attention...not so much because of her talents, but because of her hair! The dynamic gymnast has gotten a lot of flack over what many are calling an unkempt or better yet, undone coif, and most of the negative commentary is coming from fellow African Americans no less!

You may know her as Melanie on BET's hit series The Game, but before she became the wife of a Saber, she played the mature yet fun loving twin sister to her real-life twin on Sister Sister. Tia has come a long way from her curly pre-teen days, for she isn't afraid to play around with length, be it by way of extensions or a fresh new cut. I, like many others, was first introduced to Rihanna back in 2005 when she released her debut single, "Pon de Replay." I wasn't sure whether or not this Barbadian songstress would remain on the scene for many years, or simply prove to be a one-hit wonder. Now seven years later, we all know the answer to that question, for Rihanna is not only viewed as one of the top musical artists of today, but is also considered to be one of the sexiest women alive, well at least according to Esquire magazine.

Today you can see her starring in BET's new romantic comedy, Let's Stay Together. Every time I see her on that show, prancing around in cute little outfits, it makes me want to shop! I also love her hair, and although I'm not sure if it's a weave, relaxed, or natural (although the first pic below leads me to think it could be natural), it's always bouncy, shiny, and full of life! Today, you can see Kandi on the hit reality series, The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Kandi is one of my favorite housewives because she seems real and down to earth. I also love her hair and the fact that she is a style chameleon, willing to try new looks and take risks. If any of you have had a chance to catch an episode of the latest season of America's Next Top Model, then you know that this cycle is all about the All-Stars.
