Tyra Revealed Her REAL Hair!

On yesterday's season premier of the Tyra Banks Show, Miss Tyra decided to show the world what her real hair looks like. Remember the last time she "revealed" her real hair, and it was slicked back into a bun? Or what about that pic of her with cornrows? Well, this time she showed us what her hair looks like fresh from the shower. Later on in the show, her stylist, Oscar James, blow dried and straightened her hair on stage. Check out the intro here:

Pic of her hair blow dried:

And the final result -- pressed and curled:

I watched the entire show, and I'm so glad that Tyra's stylist mentioned that keeping the ends trimmed is one way to ensure a healthy head of hair -- he even trimmed her ends right before she hit the stage! In addition, he advised ladies to opt for one chemical process in order to avoid over processing the hair. Thus, if you want to color your hair, then be natural, but if you want to relax, then don't color. He even offered a great tip for us curly-haired ladies: Apply tons of product to the hair while it's soaking wet, then scrunch curls into place. These are all great tips, and Tyra's hair looks FAB!

XOXO,

I think her hair looks great. It's funny to me reading all of the blog sites (mediatakeout, etc) they keep commenting on how thin her hair is. The funny thing is, I don't really think it's all that thin. It just doesn't have any weave in it. We are so used to see so much weaved hair that we don't recognize healthy hair. I am impressed that her hair is natural. Love the big curls he did for her hair, and hate that I missed the first 30 minutes of the show. :-) but glad that you posted the video. Thanks

I watched the entire episode. I think the emphasis was that this was Tyra's "real" hair, not her "natural" hair. If you listen carefully when they are talking about processing hair, I think she says in a roundabout way that her hair is relaxed. Still, I applaud her for going on without her weave. She doing her part to get the message out there that wigs are for fun, but you can be proud of your real hair, too.

Yay Tyra! I agree with Dani in NC though, her hair is most likely relaxed, that's what it looked like to me. Still, it was a big step, glad she was brave enough to take it.

EVENTHOUGH HER HAIR DID LOOK RELAXED (WHAT DIVA'S NATURAL HAIR STAYS BONE STRAIGHT WITH NO WAVES WHEN IT IS SOAKING WET?) I APPLAUD HER FOR FACING AMERICA AND THE REST OF THE WORLD WITHOUT WEAVES, EXTENSIONS AND SUCH. THIS IS ONE STEP CLOSER TO SENDING OUT THE MESSAGE OF EMBRACING THE HAIR GOD GAVE US.
I FEEL A LOT OF PEOPLE WERE DISAPPOINTED THAT HER HAIR WASNT NATURAL BUT WE HAVE TO DO THINGS ONE STEP AT A TIME PEOPLE!! LETTING HER SCALP BREATHE FROM ALL THOSE LACE FRONTS IS A HUGE STEP. NOW LETS SEE IF IN THE NEAR FUTURE WE CAN HEAR HER ANNOUNCE THAT SHE IS TRANSITIONING??!!

I watched it on ET and yes,she had that beautiful hair under those fabulous wigs! I think her natural hair is more fab! I think the new trend will be ladies ditching their wigs. Although I have shoulder length hair,I still keep weave in it because I don't want to stunt the growth. It is clearly a stereotype that women wear weave because they have very short hair. Please have another 3mth hair challenge. I did not get to participate because I currently have micros which I know is a no, no. I will only wear them for 2 months max.

Respectfully answering NTRALBEEAUTY's comment:

I am not disappointed that Tyra's hair is relaxed. Currently in my house I have one daughter holding tight to the relaxer jar, one daughter on the fence, and one daughter gung-ho about transitioning with me. I can't afford to take sides :-). I'm just wanted to clear up the misconception because people (not just on this blog) have been using the words "real" and "natural" interchangeably, when there is a difference.

Once again, I applaud Tyra for coming out without her hair pieces. A lot of teenagers watch her show, so it was good of her to be real with them.
