Take Back Your Hair Challenge Update

Ladies, we are less than three weeks away from completing the first cycle of the "Take Back Your Hair Challenge". Thus, those of us who are a part of the September crew will be unveiling our results shortly. I must say that although the challenge is not quite over, I have already noticed a significant difference in the health of my hair.

I cashed in on my second heat pass during my recent trip to New York. I washed, deep conditioned, and air dried my hair the night before my flight. That way I was able to straighten my hair when I touched down in New York, so my style was fresh for the trip. Although New York was quite nippy, I am so glad that I opted to straighten my hair, as it did not rain, and I did not have to worry about taking a lot of product with me on the trip to tame my natural curls. All I used was a small amount of Bronner Bros. Moisturizer Hair Lotion on the ends nightly, and that was it! To keep from putting extra heat on my hair or having to pack other styling tools aside from my flat iron, I pin curled my hair at night while in a high ponytail like so:

Pin curls from the front (Hair in ponytail)
Pin curls from the side (Hair in ponytail)
Pin curls from the back (Hair in ponytail)
In the morning, I kept my hair pin curled in the ponytail until I was ready to take it down. For instance, the second day I was there, I went for a walk through Central Park. I therefore wanted to keep my ends protected until I was ready to wear my hair down. Sure enough, when night came and I was ready to hit the town, I took down my ponytail and pin curls:

I will continue to style my hair as I've been doing using Hawaiian Silky's 14-in-1 Miracle Worker (For the tutorial, see Styling with Hawaiian Silky) for the duration of the challenge. I hope that you ladies are staying on course, and I look forward to hearing all about your updates!

XOXO,

DPrincess28

Wow! Your hair is glamorous! Did you get compliments while you were in New York?!

You did my old routine to a 'T' when my hair was long and relaxed!...I love this time of year for straight hair!

Love the pincurls!Do you have your hair up in an ouchless band?

I will be doing a protein deep condtioning treatment this weekend. I am sorry to say that I do not see a sginificant difference in my length, but the one good thing is I am not shedding as much!

I have to keep remembering that what you call "pin curls" is not the same thing as what I know by that name. I keep expecting to see you with circles pinned flat against your head :-).

I can't believe its almost been 3 months. The time flew by fast. I hav lots of growth but you can't tell because I've been trimming since I'm trying to slowly get rid of the relaxed ends. My hair has definitely gotten healthy. And I've been wearing lots of protective and transition styles, I can't wait to show the crew the pics.
