June Update

It's been a minute since I did a length update, and we're only 4 months away from October, a year from when I started. To be honest, I don't think my hair has grown much--okay wait, let me rephrase that. It has grown, but not enough to get me to waist length by year's end. Take a look for yourself...

Here's a comparison shot of my hair from October 2011 to March 2012:

As you can see, my hair had grown about an inch or so. Now check out my hair from March to June:

I think the recent trim I got @ the beauty school pretty much put me back to where I was at in March.
As I demonstrated in the video, the progress I made can best be seen around the perimeter of my head, as my edges have grown out quite a bit. Here are a few more progress shots for your viewing pleasure ;-).

See you again soon!

XOXO,

DPrincess28

Your hair looks great! It's hard for me to tell any difference becaus 1. I'm a newbie and 2. the different shirts are throwing me off. I didn't get a chance to view the video because I'm at work but I'm interested to know how you are growing out your edges because I feel the front and sides of my hair needs a LOT of work!

I hope you get to your goal length!

@Ms. Harmony: Thanks, missed you too!

@Ms. Sassy: Thanks!

@The Mrs./The Mom: Thanks hun. As for growing out edges, the fact that my hormones went back to normal has a lot to do with it, but I also work some Extra Lite Double Strength Super Gro by Bronner Bros. on my edges at night. Check out my past post on it to learn more about it: http://glorycrown.blogspot.com/2012/05/hair_4109.html

You have a nice length and I'm sure you'll meet your goal. As long as it's healthy that's what really matters right?

I had a trim about a month ago and that I was after I did a couple of not so great mini-trims on my own. So I set myself back 3 inches but at the end of the day it's healthy.

Well, I have finally made the decision to go natural (today). I'm 45 yrs old and have short hair that (I believe) is a bit damaged. My question is - I don't know where to start. Do I wrap my hair and still curl with a curling iron, do I blow dry it out until the new growth starts coming in - What???? Help!

Your hair is beautiful! I have decided (as of today) that I am going to take this journey. But, I don't know where to start. I have short relaxed hair and don't know what to do with it. Do I wrap it and curl with a curling iron, do I blow dry. What? Help?

@PreKMom: Please check out the Transitioning Tips and Transitioning Tales sections of my blog for guidance on how to transition. I would refrain from heat as much as possible, as it's important to not only nurture the new growth, but to start treating all the hair as though it's natural so you can get all the practice you need in caring for the new growth before it takes over completely. Best of luck to you!
