Hair

I love my natural hair, but...

Don't get me wrong, I love my natural curls, I really do. Sometimes I have to be reminded of how much I love them, like when I suffer from heat damage. Although shrinkage irks me, seeing my once bouncy, springy curls transform into permanently straight, frazzled pieces irks me even more. Yet, as much as I love my curls and encourage others to embrace theirs, I'd be lying if I said there weren't times when rocking my natural drives me crazy...

Like when something like this happens:

TANGLES!
I was in the process of putting my hair up in the sloppy bun I normally rock (as pictured at top), when this happened. I wasn't pleased with the positioning of the bun, so I tried to remove the Ouchless scrunchie and put my hair back up, but somehow, my curls tangled around the band and this happened!

I applied a ton of product and water, hoping to make the knot slippery so my hair could glide out, but no luck. I had to cut my hair out of the band. Can you imagine how bad this would have been had I used a band with one of those metal thingies on it??!!! OUCH!

So, with that said, sometimes my natural curls annoy me. Don't get me wrong, I still love them, but there is a downside to all this...UGH!

XOXO,

DPrincess28 I feel the frustration. I totally agree with you. I love my natural hair but man it gets on last nerve sometimes! I can't stand it when it tangles up like you explained in your post. My curl pattern is very similar to yours and my shrinkage is something terrible. I have a love hate relationship with my hair for sure!...Thanks for the post; it's good to now I'm not alone :)

I so feel you on this post. Lately too I have been kinda frustrated w/ my hair. I recently started working out again (Woot Woot) so that means minimal heat for me and I'm getting kinda bored w/ my current regular styles. Oh well, the journey continues! I get in a natural hair slump from time to time but as quickly as I get frustrated I will get inspired too by new ideas and styles I see!

OMG I would have cried! I hate having to cut 2 strands to get rid of a knot that just won't go away, but that...I would have had to call my mom for therapy! Congrats to you for having on some Big Girl Undies & cutting the hair...I probably would have cut the band 1st! LOL

Ok I'm happy to see I'm not the only one this has happened to. I get irritated when this happens because it's an ouchless band to avoid this same issue. I totally feel where you are coming from!

I definitely understand that frustration! I wish it didn't take me 15 minutes to wrestle my curls into a ponytail! My eczema was bothering me recently (I get it on my palms) and my boyfriend had to apply product to my hair for the first time. Now he understands why it takes me so long to do my hair! lol I probably would have just cut that knot out on sight. My hair is pretty thick and 6 strands being shorter than the rest of my hair won't stop no show! :)
