Faux Hawk: The Junior Edition

As you can see, my two-year old son's hair keeps growing and growing. Dealing with this much hair can be nerve wracking at times (for both parent and child), but my husband and I aren't ready to cut it. So, I've therefore decided to expand my hair styling abilities so that we can keep his hair looking fresh without having to bug my mom or pay someone else an arm and a leg to do it. Alas, after a little instruction from my mom and some practice, I have finally learned how to cornrow!

My Little Prince's First Cornrows!

If you saw the Update on My Little Prince's Regimen, then you know that my son's hair has grown quite a bit. I've been wanting to get his hair braided into cornrows for a while now, but was holding off because for one, I can't do cornrows and two, I felt he was too young to sit still while someone else did it. Well apparently, grandma has the magic touch, for not only did she succeed at getting all his hair braided (the first time she tried, she only got one in, which made for an unbalanced mohawk :-)), but he even fell asleep while she was doing it!

Detangling Tight Curls

I've been caring for my niece's hair since she was an infant, so I was able to gain experience working with children's hair prior to my son's birth. My niece has a beautiful head full of tight curls, and I've found it quite challenging keeping her hair from getting tangled.
