Subscriptions Anyone?

I've been thinking about signing up for one of the many beauty/fashion subscriptions that are currently available to us consumers. My Glam seems quite enticing, as it provides its subbies with 4-5 full-size beauty products to sample each month, for the low, low price of $10.00. You can cancel at anytime, or get twelve months of service for the price of eleven by putting up $110.00 up front.

My Latest Clothes & Accessories Haul 

I bought some goodies to help ring in the holidays. I really want to buy more clothes but have learned that when on a budget, the best way to pump up your wardrobe is to stock up on accessories. The right accessories can jazz up any outfit, and can easily turn something old into something new.

Random Beauty Haul

Okay so, as you can already tell, I did a little shopping the other day...just a little, I swear, LOL! I definitely didn't break the bank, that's for sure. In fact, my first stop was the $1.00 bargain bin at Target. I got these cute little storage boxes:

I'm not yet sure what I'm going to put in them, but they are so cute, I just had to have them. And besides, they only cost $1.00. I think they'd be great for storing makeup brushes and or pallets. They're made out of cardboard, so I know I can't store anything too heavy in them.

The next stop on my little shopping trip was Forever 21. They have some great accessories right now, and some are selling for as little as $1.50. The first items I want to share are the hair accessories I bought:

I got two elastic headbands with flowers attached to them, and some bobby pins (which I really need since I accidentally threw all mine away!)

I also got these cute shades, which you'll see me sporting in today's OOTW post.

Next up are the two new necklaces I got:

This "Kiss" necklace with all its bling was right up my alley.

I also love this crystal pendant with a cross inscribed on it. I'm really into crosses, and I thought this was a unique look to add to my collection.

I spent no more than $20 on all these items. I told you I wasn't too bad :-P.

Epic Haul: Mommy Swag

I've enjoyed browsing through a lot of fashion blogs lately and have decided to expand the fashion section of PYCAG. Church Swag

Finding a dress for my son's Christening was no small feat. Carrying around extra baby weight means that my lady lumps are more voluptuous than usual. Thanks to the extra junk in the trunk, dresses that were already short are even shorter, and I'm finding that I need to shop in the Misses section of department stores versus Forever 21, Wet Seal, and other teeny bopper stores of that nature. Now, I must say that some people wonder why folks my age shop in these stores to begin with, but for me it was never about trying to be younger than I am. Instead, it was about finding affordable clothes that fit my petite frame, and those stores are right up my alley. I can't wait until I drop these extra pounds because I'm finding that it's more expensive finding clothes to fit my post baby bod. Take for instance this ensemble I put together for my son's Christening:


The dress was a very simple, conservative sheath dress by Calvin Klein that I picked up from Nordstrom Rack. It set me back about $60.00, and since it has short sleeves, I wanted to buy a cardigan or some type of wrap to cover up my arms. Well, I ended up finding this lovely cream colored cardigan with a flower on the lapel from Nordstrom Rack as well, and it cost me about $20.00. With tax, this outfit set me back a good $90.00, when I'm normally able to hook up a good fit for about $30.00!

The dress and cardigan alone are a little too conservative for my tastebuds. What sold me on the fit though was the cut of the dress, which I find to be very flattering to my frame, and the fact that it has...

I just love it when function meets fashion! Although I liked the dress because of it's simplicity and function, it would have lacked spark had I not paired it with these colorful shoes and accessories:

Did My Feet Shrink?

I don't know how many of you have noticed, but designers have recently made adjustments to standard shoe sizes. I have been a size 8 for years, and have never had a problem finding shoes that fit. Recently however, I've noticed that size 8 shoes are too large for my feet, as my last few purchases have been a 7.5. I thought I was trippin' until I created a thread about it on my personal Facebook page, and lo and behold, some of my female friends chimed in and said that they noticed the same thing!

The thing that has me most salty about this size change issue is that I'm finding that the new sizes are unstable. Take for instance my last two purchases. Do you remember my Shoes for NYE 2010? Well, those were a 7.5, and they fit just fine. Yet, I recently purchased the bad boys you see in the pic above from Forever 21 in a 7.5, and the craziest thing happened: the left shoe fit like a glove, but the right shoe is too big! What's-a-goin-on?

NYE 2010: Out with the old, in with the new!

In my post titled, Shoes for NYE 2010, I mentioned how it can be more economical to jazz up an old outfit with accessories rather than chunking down dough on an entirely new fit. Well, I took this plain black dress I've owned for quite some time now and turned it up a notch thanks to a few bangles and baubles:

Luckily, I was able to borrow the jewelry from my sis and acquire some of the other additions for little to nothing. I've always said that having sisters is a blessing because you get double (and in my case, triple) the wardrobe! How's that for turning something old into something new!

Shoes for NYE 2010

When money is tight, instead of buying clothes, the best thing to do is shop for shoes and accessories that will serve to jazz up the duds you already own. Well, I've been trying to put together an outfit for a New Year's Eve celebration, but was missing one key ingredient: shoes!

I solved my dilemma when I went to Kohl's the other day. Since I had purchased some Christmas gifts for family members from Kohl's, I had $30.00 Kohl's cash to spend. For those of you who don't shop at Kohl's and therefore aren't familiar with Kohl's cash, it's a pretty cool reward system they've got going. Basically, for every $50.00 you spend, you get $10.00 Kohl's cash, which pretty much resembles Monopoly money--it can't be used anywhere but at Kohl's, and you can spend it on whatever you want! Well, I was in their store yesterday looking for shoes to rock for NYE and my eyes landed on this gorgeous pair of stiletto pumps:

These shoes were originally priced at $59.99 but were on sale for $35.99. Thanks to my Kohl's cash, I only had to come out of pocket an additional $6.57. Not bad for a fabulous pair of shoes. Trust, these pics do not do them justice. They're so sparkly, I feel like Jessica Rabbit in them :-).

Pics From The White Party

On Friday, I sported the dress I purchased from GoJane.com to a white party. I shared the look in my post titled My New White Dress. I decided to accessorize the look with silver earrings and the same silver shoes I wore with my Hot Pink Hottie look:

The flash bounced off my earring to make it look like it was blinging more than it was. A lot of folks came out that night to show off their white fit, and I believe I had more fun people watching than anything. Below are a few more pics from that night:

Green Dress

Last week I sported this green dress to a networking/social mixer. I bought it at Ross last year for around $15.00. Yes, you know your girl loves to shop on a budget, LOL! Normally, I hate shopping at Ross, because their stores are almost always in disarray. You have to dang near crawl around on the floor in order to find something decent. Yet, there are a few times when I get lucky and immediately spy something the moment I walk in.

This green dress was the inspiration for my green & purple eye shadow tutorial. I wore these shoes with the dress:
I got these on sale at Bandolino. They're wedge heels, and although you know I love me some stilettos, these shoes are great for dancing!

I love how these shoes make me look so much taller than I actually am. In this pic of me standing next to my friend, you'd think I was much taller than her, but I'm only 5'3", and she's not that much shorter than me, LOL!
